DeAndre Hopkins already recruiting Malcolm Butler to Texans
Malcolm Butler is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next month, and it would be a shock if the cornerback returned to the Patriots after he was inexplicably benched in Super Bowl LII. Less than 24 hours after New England lost that game, one star wide receiver was already recruiting Butler to his team.
On Monday, Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins gave Butler a shout-out on Twitter and told him there is a spot waiting for him in Houston.
Wusup @Mac_BZ we got a place for you in Houston

Depending on the reason for his benching on Sunday, Butler should still be in line for a sizable contract in free agency. He had an admittedly below-average season in 2017, but Butler was one of the best cornerbacks in football in 2016 and is known for having a nose for the ball, which he most famously showcased with his goal line interception in Super Bowl XLIX.
Plenty of teams are going to want to sign Butler, who unloaded on the Patriots for not giving him a shot against the Eagles. Hopkins will probably have to get in line, but at least he can say he was one of the first to reach out.
