DeAngelo Williams’ daughters pose with powerful sign supporting father

While the NFL chooses to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October with players wearing pink accessories, the league prefers to not extend it beyond that.

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams lost his mother to breast cancer in May of last year. He dyed his hair pink as one form of a tribute to her last September. For this season, Williams petitioned the NFL to allow him to wear pink all season, not just during October’s games. However, the league denied the request, to the surprise of no one.

Williams is, obviously, subject to NFL rules and regulations. His daughters, on the other hand, are not. on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the above photos of Williams’ daughters holding a sign in support of their father. On one side reads “We Wear Pink Because Our Daddy is NOT Allowed.” “The NFL Cannot Fine Us!” appears on the opposite side.

The NFL has taking a public relations beating in recent years. Decisions like the one to not allow Williams to support a cause in his own way (one the NFL fully backs) will surely keep the trend of people saying “The NFL got this one wrong” for the foreseeable future.
