DeAngelo Williams glad Patriots have problems

DeAngelo Williams Steelers

Tom Brady finally accepted his four-game suspension from the NFL for his role in the Deflategate controversy, and make no mistake about it: Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams is not shedding any tears over the unfortunate circumstances for the New England Patriots.

“I am glad they got problems. I don’t care,” Williams on Tuesday told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Everybody has their problems, and I am glad they have theirs.”

Williams was speaking from a youth football camp when he made his comments. He also rejected the notion that Brady’s suspension will be beneficial for Pittsburgh since the Steelers are typically one of the top competitors in the AFC, along with New England.

“I don’t know why everybody thinks that affects us,” Williams said. “We don’t care. You think Big Ben wants to beat a Brady-less team? That proves nothing to him.”

Though some players will say they prefer to play the Patriots at full strength — which means Brady playing — if they go on to win a Super Bowl thanks in part to Brady missing some games, we truly doubt they will be complaining later on. What’s more, there still is an argument that Brady deserves the suspension for potentially giving himself an unfair advantage in past games.
