Derrick Henry ‘pissed’ about performance in season opener
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is already unhappy with how he’s performed this season.
The Titans veteran got just 10 carries for 26 yards in Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, and it wasn’t his lack of touches he was upset about. He openly said he was “pissed” over what he considered to be a sub-standard showing.
“I felt like it was average, below average, and that’s not how I want to play,” Henry said, via Jim Wyatt of the team’s official website. “I have to be better as a player.
“I definitely need to get it going personally. I need to play better this week, be effective in the running game, make plays, and help open everything else up. [The Houston Texans] have a great defense. I have to run hard, finish runs, and be ready.”
In fairness to Henry, he did have a 62-yard touchdown run wiped out by a controversial hold, but that will come as little comfort. After looking poised for a larger role this season, he instead appears to have fallen behind Dion Lewis in the pecking order.
