Devin McCourty: Darrelle Revis would take contract similar to mine

Darrelle Revis Patriots

One free agent defensive back down for the Patriots, another big one to go.

The Pats and safety Devin McCourty agreed to a deal Sunday that will make the former Rutgers star the second-highest paid safety in the game. The contract is for five years and pays McCourty $28.5 million guaranteed and $47.5 million overall. It’s a big-money deal that McCourty believes would be enough to retain Darrelle Revis.

Appearing on “NFL Live” for an interview with Trey Wingo Monday, McCourty said he thinks Revis will be back with the Patriots and would be “happy” with a similar contract.

“I think (Revis) will be back with us on some type of deal,” said McCourty. “I’m not great with the numbers, so I don’t know what kind.”

Wingo then asked if Revis would be happy with the type of deal McCourty received.

“Yeah he will,” McCourt responded. “He texted me congrats and everything.”

Revis reportedly is choosing between the Patriots and the Jets. The Jets are believed to be able to offer more money, but Revis reportedly would return to the Pats as long as the money is close.
