Dez Bryant: Cowboys ‘moved a step closer’ to Super Bowl in 2015

Dez Bryant

Well, you can’t say that Dez Bryant isn’t an optimist.

The Cowboys receiver believes that in spite of a dreadful 4-12 season, Dallas is actually closer now to a Super Bowl.

“I honestly think we have moved a step closer even though our record doesn’t show it,” Bryant told CBSSports.com. “I still think we’re a damn good football team and we had an unfortunate situation no one could do anything about. I think right now we had an opportunity to get our mind right and understand what we have at stake. This doesn’t last long, this team won’t be together for a while, we have damn near all the pieces together, we have to somehow get it to back to where it’s been.”

I suppose the question is whether Dallas was actually a Super Bowl caliber team even before the injuries to Tony Romo and Bryant hit. Expectations were definitely high, and ultimately, in the division they played in, they would have had a good chance to win it if healthy. Perhaps Bryant has a point in that all the adversity will actually help Dallas in the long haul, though the NFC East may not be as bad next season.
