Report: Dolphins to name Adam Gase head coach

adam-gase

The Miami Dolphins will reportedly name Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase as their new head coach today, according to reports.

Gase is expected to be introduced during a 3 PM news conference on Saturday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that it will be a five year contract, and Gase will likely name Cincinnati Bengals defensive backs coach Vance Joseph as his defensive coordinator.

According to NFL Media’s Jeff Darlington, the Dolphins loved Gase, and were so serious during the interview process that he met with both Ndamukong Suh and Ryan Tannehill, and reportedly “hit it off” with the quarterback.

Before serving as Bears offensive coordinator, Gase spent two years as Denver’s offensive coordinator and two as quarterbacks coach under John Fox, working extensively with Peyton Manning. Earlier in his career, he served in various roles with the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, and LSU Tigers.

Gase was in high demand, and was on the Eagles’ radar as well, but on Thursday, we heard that Miami was making a big final push for the 37-year-old. That push appears to have paid off.
