Doug Marrone could become interim head coach if Jags make change
The Jacksonville Jaguars made a coaching change on Saturday that could pave the way for Doug Marrone to eventually become the team’s interim head coach.
The Jags announced the firing of offensive coordinator Greg Olson. They promoted Nate Hackett from quarterbacks coach to OC to take his spot.
Gus Bradley still remains the team’s head coach, but one has to wonder how long that will continue to be the case.
The Jags are 2-5 this season and in the middle of their fourth straight losing season under Bradley. They’ve never won more than five games in a season under his tenure.
Should the Jags decide to fire Bradley at any point this season, many believe Marrone, who is currently the team’s offensive line coach, could be in line to become the interim head coach.
The Jags moves today – firing Olson and installing Hackett as OC essentially paves way for Marrone to take over as interim HC at some point

If/when the Jags make a change at head coach in-season, Marrone slides up to the HC and you already have his guy running the offense

Hackett is more run-focused and served as Marrone’s offensive coordinator in Buffalo, so it would make sense for him to be the OC if Marrone is promoted to interim head coach.
Marrone went 15-17 over two seasons as head coach of the Bills in 2013 and 2014.
