Doug Peterson says it’s ‘safe to say’ Nick Foles will remain with Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have received numerous trade requests related to Nick Foles this offseason, but it seems highly unlikely that the quarterback will be playing for a new team in 2018.
Earlier in the week, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman took a stand against all of the talk about Foles being traded by declaring that the team is “not in the business of simply trying to give away good players.” On Tuesday, Philly coach Doug Pederson took things a step further by basically saying Foles isn’t going anywhere.
Eagles’ HC Doug Pederson told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio that it is now “safe to say” that Nick Foles will be with Philadelphia for the start of the 2018 season.

The Eagles have reportedly placed a very high price tag on Foles, and you can understand why. They brought him in so they would have a viable backup quarterback in the event that Carson Wentz got injured, and their plan worked to perfection last season. Wentz suffered a torn ACL, and Foles managed to step in and lead Philly to a Super Bowl title.
Foles will carry a cap hit of $7.6 million in 2018, which is pretty expensive for a backup quarterback. However, with Wentz still recovering from a torn ACL and the Eagles having made numerous big acquisitions this offseason, winning back-to-back championships is clearly a priority. Unless a team blows Philly away with an offer, Foles is staying put.
