Drew Brees’ son cheered for Eli Manning and Odell Beckham against Saints

Drew Brees

Drew Brees put on a historic performance during the Saints’ 52-49 victory over the Giants on Sunday. While most of the Superdome was rooting for the Saints, a member of the Brees family was cheering for a couple of Giants players.

Brees tied an NFL single-game record by throwing seven touchdowns and set a career-high with 511 yards through the air. On the other side, Eli Manning threw for 350 yards and six touchdowns. Three of those scores were caught by Odell Beckham Jr. and that made Brees’ son Baylen pretty happy.

“Here was the problem with yesterday’s game. My sons go to [Isidore] Newman School, which is where Eli Manning and Odell Beckham went to high school,” Brees said on The Dan Patrick Show, via ESPN. “So my oldest one decided that he was gonna cheer for Odell Beckham and Eli Manning during the game. And Eli goes and throws six touchdowns and Odell scores three.”

“Now he wants an Odell Beckham jersey, so we’re having to contemplate this decision,” said Brees.

It’s good to see Drew Brees take it in stride and have a little fun with the moment. Now, we’ll have to wait and see if he decides to get young Baylen the Beckham jersey or not. If Drew doesn’t, there’s certainly nothing wrong with sporting dad’s jersey around town, seeing as how his name is throughout the NFL record book and all.
