Drew Rosenhaus: Johnny Manziel has taken no steps to get help

Johnny Manziel

Drew Rosenhaus has given Johnny Manziel until the start of next week to seek treatment, otherwise the NFL agent has said he will terminate his relationship with Manziel. On Friday, Rosenhaus made it clear that he is not optimistic any changes will come soon.

In an appearance on PFT Live with Mike Florio, Rosenhaus said he is not “on the same page” with Manziel as far as what the quarterback needs to do to improve his situation.

“Unfortunately there hasn’t been any movement toward getting help or seeking treatment that I’m aware of,” Rosenhaus said. “I’m trying diligently to recommend this to Johnny. I’m not the first one, certainly not the only one. There are a lot of friends and family and people that want the best for this young man. He’s got a plan, it’s just different than the one he and I talked about and what I would recommend to him.”

Manziel was dropped by his former agent Erik Burkhardt in February. Rosenhaus obviously knew everything that was going on with Manziel, so he must have thought he could help him change his ways. With Manziel still partying every night and appearing drunk in at least one interview (video here), Rosenhaus must not be feeling confident the 23-year-old wants to change.

When you read the latest story about Manziel supposedly leaving a rental home trashed with drugs strewn about, you’ll understand why Rosenhaus is about to become the next to throw in the towel on him.
