Eagles coach hints that Carson Wentz could play Week 2
The Philadelphia Eagles are going to begin their 2018 season with the same quarterback who closed out their 2017 campaign, but Carson Wentz may be back under center as soon as Week 2.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Tuesday that Wentz is “close” to being ready to play. He also said no final decision had been made about Nick Foles starting when reports indicated as much last week, which could mean Wentz was closer to getting the green light than people thought.

Doug said decision hadn’t been made yet when Foles report came out. Was upset during last presser partly because of that report, in that he didn’t come to a decision and inform his QBs first.

The Eagles formally named Foles their Week 1 starter on Monday, and one report claimed Thursday night’s game will not be the only one Wentz will miss. The team is obviously going to play it safe, but we’ve heard nothing but positive updates about Wentz’s rehab from knee surgery. It would not be a surprise if he returned in Week 2.
