Howie Roseman: Eagles would like Sam Bradford back if deal makes sense

Sam Bradford

The Philadelphia Eagles want Sam Bradford back, but it needs to be at a reasonable price.

Vice president of football operations Howie Roseman told the team’s official podcast that there is a desire to bring Bradford back, but it has to work for both sides.

“We’ve all been clear that we like Sam, and we’d like to have him back,” Roseman said, via PhillyMag’s Tim McManus. “It goes then between all of us and whether we can figure something out that makes sense on both sides. Sometimes we get into a situation where we sit here and it will make sense from the team’s perspective but when you’re talking about a negotiation, it’s also got to work for the other side and the player, and we understand that. But hopefully this will all work out and we’ll look at that depth chart when we line up here in July and be really excited about the position.”

The question, it seems, is how much Bradford would cost. The team isn’t willing to use their franchise tag on him, which means they’d have to figure out some sort of agreement. Bradford’s incoming coach and his teammates have both spoken highly of him, but that may not matter if the Eagles aren’t willing to pay him what he wants. The team has already looked at reported alternatives, too, so it may well be that they end up going in a different direction.
