Eagles reportedly trying to trade Matt Barkley, may sign Tim Tebow

The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to trade Matt Barkley according to a report, and that might be part of a larger plan to make room for Tim Tebow.

NBC Washington’s Dianna Marie Russini reports that the Eagles are 80 percent likely to sign Tebow if they are able to find a taker for Barkley, whom they’re shopping.

Reports all offseason have said Barkley was fighting for a roster spot as the third QB on the team. Just Monday Chris Mortensen reported that Philly was trying to trade Barkley for a late-round draft pick, so Russini’s report should not come as a surprise.

The Eagles worked out Tebow on Monday though they did not sign him. The former Heisman Trophy winner is said to have improved his mechanics, though he has not played in the league since 2012.
