Eddie Lacy ankle injury considered minor, could play next week

Eddie-Lacy

Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy appears to have avoided a serious injury despite leaving Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks early in the first half.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the ankle injury Lacy suffered is considered “minor” and might not even keep him out of Green Bay’s Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs next Monday night.

The report is consistent with what former NFL doctor David J. Chao tweeted Sunday night, when he noted that the way Lacy rolled his ankle was indicative of a low ankle sprain, which is much less severe and takes less time to heal than a high ankle sprain.

This is obviously good news for the Packers. Lacy’s aggressive running style has led to plenty of bumps and bruises through his first two-plus NFL seasons, but he has missed just one game so far in his professional career. With Jordy Nelson sidelined for the season, the Packers cannot afford to lose another one of their best offensive weapons.

It may be a week or so before Lacy starts making jaw-dropping plays like this again, but it sounds like he dodged a bullet against the Seahawks.
