Ex-Bills QB throws shade at Nathan Peterman

One of the biggest mysteries in the NFL is the Buffalo Bills’ blind allegiance to Nathan Peterman. And one of the team’s former quarterbacks does not understand it.

Peterman threw three interceptions as the Bills got blown out 41-9 by the Chicago Bears on Sunday. He has 1 touchdown pass and 7 interceptions on the season. Last season he threw for 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, including the playoffs.

The Bills almost have no chance of winning games that he starts, but that hasn’t stopped them from playing him. That’s left E.J. Manuel dumbfounded.

Manuel, who was the No. 16 overall pick by the Bills in 2013, wrote about the matter on Instagram Sunday. He wondered how Peterman gets looks while he’s out of the league.

The Bills were 6-11 in games started by Manuel. He threw for 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions during those games.

There is no comparison; the Bills actually had some chance to win with Manuel at quarterback, unlike with Peterman. There are few QBs in history who might give a team less of a chance to win a game than Peterman. Unless Buffalo’s strategy is to tank — and it very well might be — continuing to give Peterman opportunities makes little sense. He’s terrible.

Josh Allen has resumed throwing from his elbow injury and could be back soon. Meanwhile, Derek Anderson is the guy the Bills chose to make their third-string QB. He probably would have started had he not been concussed last week. He and Manuel are probably on similar levels of effectiveness. Peterman’s below them all.
