Eric Reid reportedly files collusion grievance against NFL

Eric Reid believes the NFL is treating him the same way people feel Colin Kaepernick has been treated for the past year-plus, and the free agent safety is following Kaepernick’s lead by taking legal action against the league over it.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports that Reid has filed a collusion grievance against the NFL. The former San Francisco 49er is being represented by Mark Geragos, who is one of the attorneys who has represented Kaepernick.

Kaepernick, of course, filed a collusion grievance against the NFL last year that is said to center around one third of the league’s teams, and the case is still ongoing. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and several NFL owners and executives have been deposed in recent weeks in connection with the grievance.

Reid met with the Cincinnati Bengals last month, and one report indicated the team made it very clear to him that he was expected to not partake in national anthem protests if signed. Reid had previously said that he did not plan to kneel in 2018, but he was supposedly unwilling to make any promises to the Bengals.

Reid was previously part of the Players Coalition that was working with the NFL on issues of social injustice, but he left when he felt his goals were no longer aligned with the group’s.
