Falcons release Roddy White after 11 seasons

Roddy White

Roddy White, who holds nearly every receiving record in Atlanta Falcons franchise history, has been released by the team after eleven seasons.

The news was confirmed by the team’s official website.

“Roddy will forever be part of the Falcons family and I’m confident our fans will always remember and be grateful for the exemplary way he has represented them over the last 11 years,” said owner Arthur Blank, calling White one of the greatest players in franchise history. “We wish him nothing but the very best and, on a personal level, we look forward to a lifetime relationship with Roddy and his family.”

White should be able to find suitors, despite his age of 34. He is a cap casualty and would have cost $6 million in 2016. It makes sense as his role in the offense was marginalized during the 2015 season, admitting that he was frustrated with how things were going. He’ll never be a star again, but he could help someone.
