Frank Gore leaving 49ers to sign with Eagles

Frank GoreFrank Gore is breaking the bank, at least as far as 32-year-old running backs are concerned.

Gore, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2005 and has spent his entire career with the team, wanted to return to the team, but he will be leaving for Philadelphia after receiving a sweeter offer from the Eagles.

Yahoo! Sports’ Rand Getlin says Gore’s offer from Philly includes $7 million in guarantees and is for $5 million annually.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that Gore informed people he will be signing with the Eagles. Schefter says the deal is expected to be for three years, with $7.5 million guaranteed in the first two seasons.

Despite his age, Gore remains consistently productive. He has not missed a game the last four seasons and has rushed for at least 1,100 yards during that span. He also improved his yards per carry average from 4.1 in 2013 to 4.3 last season.

The Eagles also got rid of LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso and replaced him with Gore for half the money. McCoy got more money from Buffalo, including $16.5 million in the first year, $26.5 million guaranteed, and $40 million over five years. For much less, the Eagles got Gore and can also add another back or two to the mix.
