Geno Smith yelled ‘f— you’ to fan after loss (Video)

Geno Smith apologized for cursing at a fan after the New York Jets’ 24-17 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

As seen in the video above via CBS2 in New York, Smith yelled “f— you” at a heckling fan twice as he was leaving the field. The second-year quarterback started his postgame news conference by apologizing.

“Before we start this off, first of all I want to apologize if any kids saw me saying any negative remarks walking off the field,” Smith, the Jets’ quarterback, said to open his postgame press conference after Sunday’s game. “I kind of let my temper get the best of me in that situation, and it’s a part of my learning process.

“I’ve got to get better with that. I’ve got to let that stuff roll off my back. But today, I didn’t do well with that.”

Because CBS got the video, it was probably best for Smith to address the story before it was posted online by the TV station, which is what he did.

Though we understand his frustration, you never want to curse at your paying customers the way Smith did. You just can’t let the fans get the best of you — especially when you’re playing in a big city like New York where the fans can be brutal.
