Report: Giants have discussed making Odell Beckham NFL’s highest-paid WR
Odell Beckham Jr.’s agent was in New York over the weekend to talk with the Giants about a potential contract extension with the star receiver, but no agreement had been reached as of Monday. There have been some signs, however, that progress is being made.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Beckham’s agent negotiated in “good faith” with the Giants about a contract that would make the 25-year-old the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.
Over the past several days, Odell Beckham Jr’s agent Zeke Sandhu & the #Giants engaged in good-faith negotiations on a deal that would make him the highest paid WR in the NFL, sources say. They aren’t there yet, but the sides are encouraged a deal could be done before the season.

The Giants are known as a team that usually doesn’t waste too much time with lowball offers so this isn’t surprising. This indicates they’re already above Antonio Brown’s $17m per year. https://t.co/tt53dFf8Ii

It makes sense that Beckham wants top dollar, but we also have to keep in mind that the Giants could simply franchise tag him in 2019 and 2020 if they chose to go that route. That gives him slightly less leverage in negotiations.
A report from earlier on Monday gave us an idea of what the Giants want to pay Beckham, though it seems like they will need to raise their offer in order to complete a deal.
