Giants GM: ‘We’re still not giving up on’ Victor Cruz

Victor Cruz

Injury troubles have effectively ruined Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz over the last few years, but the team is still refusing to quit on him.

In an interview with New York radio station WFAN on Monday, Giants general manager Jerry Reese reaffirmed that the team continues to hold out hope for the for the Pro Bowler.

“We’re still not giving up on Cruz,” Reese said per Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “Hopefully, he’ll make it back.”

Cruz, 29, missed the entire 2015 season with a calf injury. He also only managed six appearances for the Giants in 2014 thanks to a patellar tendon tear. Cruz recently suffered another health-related setback in training camp this offseason, this time to his groin.

The University of Massachusetts product has been a Giant for his entire career and has three years remaining on his contract after agreeing to a restructuring last March. We’ll just have to wait and see if Cruz is ever healthy enough again to validate the team’s continued faith in him.
