Giants reportedly looking to trade back from No. 2 in draft
The New York Giants seem like the most likely landing spot for Saquon Barkley in Thursday night’s NFL Draft, but they may pass up the opportunity to select the star running back if the right trade offer is presented.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini spoke with a Giants source who said the possibility of the team trading back is still very real.
Spoke to a Giants source. He said the feeling in this building today is the Giants are looking to trade down. When I asked why? He said “we have a ton of needs”

For what it’s worth, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said he expects to use the No. 2 pick but is not ruling anything out.

If the Giants end up working out a trade with a team that wants to move up to No. 2 for a quarterback, Barkley almost certainly won’t be on the board beyond No. 4, where the Cleveland Browns pick for a second time. However, there is a ton of value in being in the top-five of this year’s draft with how deep the class is considered at the quarterback position, so the Giants could try to get a later first-round pick and maybe a second if they’re willing to pass on Barkley.
We have already heard about other teams looking to trade down from their position near the top of the first round, so New York may have some competition. There could be a lot of movement leading up to and during the draft.
