Giants will pick up Odell Beckham’s fifth-year option
The New York Giants may be hoping Odell Beckham shows more maturity in 2017 than he has in the past, but that does not mean they are going to let him become a free agent before they need to.
Kimberly Jones of NFL Network reported on Monday that the Giants will pick up the option year on Beckham’s rookie deal, which keeps him under contract with the team through 2018.
The @Giants are picking up Odell Beckham Jr's fifth-year option. I'd guess announcement before start of draft Thursday. Deadline is May 3.

Beckham is one of the best receivers in football, and the option will pay him around $8 million for the 2018 season. There was really no chance the Giants were going to decline it, though some of the comments their front office made recently about Beckham’s contract may have been intended as a warning to the 24-year-old.
While the fifth-year option was a no-brainer, Beckham will have to prove he can avoid making immature decisions like this before the Giants will be willing to give him a long-term extension.
