Greg Hardy arrested for possession of cocaine

Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy was arrested for possession of cocaine in Texas late Sunday night.

Claire Z. Cardona of The Dallas Morning News reports that Hardy was stopped by police shortly before midnight for a routine traffic stop. Officers found cocaine in the vehicle and arrested the NFL free agent for possession of a controlled substance, which is less than one gram.

According to TMZ, Hardy was taken to Richardson City Jail and released after posting $5,000 bail.

After spending the 2015 season with the Dallas Cowboys, Hardy was unable to find work this past offseason. The 28-year-old is incredibly talented and would be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL if not for his off-field issues. Hardy was said to be a bad teammate and a distraction in the locker room with the Cowboys, but it was likely the disturbing photos of his alleged domestic assault that made him untouchable to NFL teams.

If Hardy had any chance of making an NFL comeback before, that has likely gone out the window with his drug arrest.
