Greg Hardy working to clean up his public image through Twitter

Greg Hardy

Based on talent alone, Greg Hardy should be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. Yet he remains unemployed with training camp right around the corner, and we all know why that is.

After spending a season with the Dallas Cowboys last year, Hardy is now grasping at straws to repair his public image. For evidence of that, look no further than his Twitter page. Hardy’s cover photo now shows him hanging out with a group of school children, and his profile picture features him and his son. He also has an Archie Manning quote in his bio. Check it out:

If you followed Hardy on Twitter before, you know how many changes he has made. For starters, his handle used to be @OverlordKraken and is now simply @GregHardyJr. We don’t know exactly what the Overlord Kraken bit was, but Hardy once blamed his alter-ego “The Kraken” when discussing people accusing him of domestic violence without knowing the facts.

“It could be speculated that I’m an invincible mythological sea creature with white eyes, it can be speculated that I am this other thing and it’s up to me to fix it,” Hardy said at the time.

As Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk notes, Hardy also used to post rap lyrics and goofy photos, but now he mostly links out to his Instagram page with photos about working out and the hashtag #Rise&Grind.”

Teams don’t want to deal with the baggage Hardy brings, and he is clearly starting to get desperate. His agent even sent a memo to all NFL teams last month informing them about all the counseling Hardy has been receiving. Hardy once used his Twitter bio to defend himself against some horrible allegations, but he has dropped that act now that he remains a free agent. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work.
