Olsen left the game in the first half and was said to be probable to return. However, he never returned from the locker room as would be expected for someone labeled probable to return. He ended up in street clothes, in a walking boot and on crutches after being termed “out” at halftime.

The Panthers added new incentives to Olsen’s contract this summer. The veteran tight end is under contract through the 2018 season. He hasn’t missed a game since 2008.
