Hue Jackson insists Browns have no idea who they will take No. 1

The Cleveland Browns have been on the clock for the first overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft since the season ended, so you would think they have a good idea by now of who they are going to take. According to Hue Jackson, that is not the case.

In an appearance on Adam Schefter’s podcast this week, Jackson was asked when the Browns will make their decision on which player is worthy of the No. 1 overall selection. The head coach insists it may not be until April 26.

“It might be the day of the draft, knowing how we go about it. … We’ll sit there and really have a great conversation at some point in time about what we think is best,” Jackson said. “I think it’s a little early. I know John (Dorsey) and I know he’s gonna take every minute to get this right.”

Jackson spoke highly of all the top quarterbacks in the draft, which could be an indicator that Cleveland is willing to wait until they pick again at No. 4 to draft a QB. Either that, or Jackson is sending smoke screens and the Browns like one player so much that they can’t risk missing out on him. Based on some of the rumblings we have heard this week, that player may surprise you.

The Browns already have their starter for 2018 in place with Tyrod Taylor, so they can finally allow a rookie time to develop rather than stunting his development. They’re hoping that makes all the difference.
