Jack Del Rio to Oakland Raiders seems like strong possibility
Jack Del Rio becoming the next head coach of the Oakland Raiders sounds like a strong possibility.
Del Rio, who recently was let go as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, has already interviewed once for the Raiders head coaching vacancy. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says he is headed to Oakland Monday for his second interview with the team. They were so eager to interview him a second time, they tried to talk with him last week too. They also reached out to Del Rio for a second interview immediately after the Broncos lost to the Colts.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says Del Rio “badly” wants the Raiders job for multiple reasons.
Jack Del Rio hasn’t hid how badly he wants #Raiders job. Grew up a Raiders fan, parents are season tix holders, brother works security there

Oh, and Jack Del Rio won a HS state title for Hayward High on the same Oakland Coliseum turf he’d like to walk as the #Raiders head coach

Del Rio, 51, is from Northern California and has served as the Broncos’ defensive coordinator since 2012. He was head coach of the Jaguars from 2003-2011 and went 68-71 over nine seasons (he was fired before the season ended in 2011). I would consider him an average head coach. He’s certainly nowhere near Jim Harbaugh or Jon Gruden, which were the fantasy names for Raiders fans.
