Jack Del Rio takes shot at ESPN stat heads over 2-point conversion
Jack Del Rio is basking in the glory of his bold decision to go for a 2-point conversion that helped the Oakland Raiders beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The Raiders scored a touchdown with 47 seconds left to make it 34-33 Saints. While an extra point kick would have tied the game, Del Rio decided to go for two and the win. The decision worked out as Derek Carr connected with Michael Crabtree to give the Raiders the lead.
The Saints ended up missing a 61-yard field goal as time expired to give the Raiders a 35-34 win.
Though the decision worked out in the end, many questioned Del Rio’s call to go for two. Even ESPN Stats & Info said the better statistical call would have been to kick. Del Rio saw that tweet and decided to respond after the game:
Good thing ESPN isn't coaching the Raiders https://t.co/X6tB1YlZ4d

A bold coach with a bold attitude? That’s exactly what Raiders fans love.
Most NFL head coaches are too scared to make risky calls because they don’t want to face the backlash if it doesn’t work out. Del Rio took a chance and it worked out, so now he can boast about it.
