Jamaal Charles tweets solid joke after signing contract extension
Jamaal Charles had one of the shortest-lived holdouts in the history of training camp holdouts.
On Tuesday word was that Charles was going to hold out from Kansas City Chiefs camp because he was only set to earn $3.9 million this season despite being a star in the Chiefs’ offense. Luckily for him the Chiefs came through with a pleasing offer Wednesday that he signed.
Charles’ two-year contract extension was for $18.1 million and keeps him with KC through 2017. It also ensures he gets paid $8.3 million this season.
After the holdout was solved, Charles tweeted this joke:
I had no intention on holding out…I just ran out of gas on the way to camp and my cell phone battery died. It was a long walk I tell ya.

Nicely done, Jamaal. And the man certainly was deserving of the raise. He rushed for over 1,500 yards two seasons ago and posted nearly 2,000 total yards last season in Andy Reid’s offense. It’s about time for him to get paid.
