Jameis Winston practices normally, will start Sunday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will battle through a shoulder injury to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter announced Friday that Winston will start after going through a normal practice despite a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder.

“He’s our starter. Jameis will be our starter. He’ll be out there,” Koetter said, via Jenna Laine of ESPN. “Jameis threw the ball well today. He threw it well.”

Winston himself said that it was mostly just a question of managing the pain.

“It’s not really about passes and making the throws,” Winston said. “It’s just the pain. That’s all. This is a long season. That’s the biggest thing — it’s a long season.”

There was definitely a chance that Winston would sit out on Sunday, but he and the team have apparently decided that the quarterback can cope with the pain and still contribute.
