Jarvis Landry reportedly traded to Browns for two draft picks

Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry is heading to Cleveland.

The Miami Dolphins on Friday agreed to trade Landry to the Browns. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says Cleveland is sending Miami two draft picks for the receiver. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says the Dolphins will receive one pick in 2018 and one in 2019.

Landry was franchise-tagged by the Dolphins and reportedly signed his tender. He is guaranteed at least $16 million for the 2018, but the better news is Cleveland will likely give him a contract extension. Teams don’t give up two draft picks for a player they play to lose in one year, so it makes sense that the Browns will give Landry a long-term contract.

The Browns are in the process of trying to build themselves into a contender and have taken one step forward. Now with Landry on the roster plus the Nos. 1 and 4 overall picks in the upcoming draft, the Browns should have some talent on offense in 2018.
