Jason Hatcher says Redskins name leads to bias from referees (Video)

The Redskins have been under fire over their name and its offensive nature, with many feeling a change is almost inevitable.

The NY Daily News made the decision to no longer use the name or logo in its publication. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid thinks the franchise will have a new name within three years. Former NFL referee Mike Carey said the league honored his request to not work games involving the Redskins.

Speaking of NFL referees, after Sunday’s loss to the Panthers, Jason Hatcher said he thinks his team is not beating treated fairly by officials due to their name and he’s tired of being “punished” for it.

The Redskins fell to 4-6 on Sunday with Hatcher and the defense getting shredded to the tune of five touchdown passes by Cam Newton, so it’s completely understandable he would be frustrated after the game. And, to say the officiating in the NFL hasn’t been under scrutiny this season would be quite the under statement. However, I think it’s safe to say Hatcher is probably way off base with his assessment of the way his team is being treated by referees.

There isn’t a conspiracy against the Redskins by the NFL’s officials. Trust us, Jason.
