Jay Gruden says he only recently learned of ties in NFL
A surprising amount of people in the NFL didn’t seem to be aware of the fact that games can end in ties.
Count Washington coach Jay Gruden among those who, at least according to him, were surprised to learn of tie games thanks to the Week 7 tilt between Arizona and Seattle.
Gruden: "I don't know how to react. I didn't know it was possible to tie. There was a tie last week I was like 'how heck did they tie?'"

We don’t really have any reason to believe that he isn’t telling the truth. At least he found out a week early and not during the contest.
We’re inclined to believe Gruden as well because this thinking is surprisingly common. Perhaps the recent frequency of ties – two in two weeks – will enlighten more around the league.
