Jerry Jones says he’s surprised Cowboys haven’t won Super Bowl in two decades

Jerry Jones

It’s been two decades since the Dallas Cowboys have won a Super Bowl, and Jerry Jones can’t quite believe it.

Thursday is the 20th anniversary of Dallas’s last Super Bowl victory. Jones, in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, was asked why he believes that drought can end.

“Well, I saw how we got there for the first three that I was involved with,” Jones said, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “I’m the most surprised person in Mobile, or the country, that we haven’t been back to and competed in a Super Bowl.

“But I know firsthand that you can go from the outhouse to the penthouse, and I’ve experienced it. Consequently, that fact has always driven me to know that it’s just around the corner. There’s a pony in here somewhere.”

Jones probably is the most surprised person in the country that it hasn’t happened, because nobody else is that surprised. Jones’s track record as a wheeler-dealer is average, and that’s being rather generous. We’re left with him being surprised that his teams struggle and trying to blame others for it rather than owning up to the mediocrity.
