Jessica McCloughan reportedly was pressured by Redskins to apologize

Jessica Scot McCloughan

The wife of Redskins GM Scot McCloughan issued a statement of apology on Wednesday after being pressured to do so by the team, according to a report.

McCloughan’s wife, Jessica, maintained a Twitter account from which she trashed ESPN reporter Dianna Marie Russini, accusing the reporter of exchanging sex for scoops. A Redskins spokesperson initially denied the Twitter account belonged to Jessica, but the team later issued a statement of apology on her behalf.

Now Radar Online reports that McCloughan was pressured by the team to apologize and that Jessica believed Scot was having an affair with Russini.

Via Radar Online:

Shannon Rutherford, Jessica’s sister-in-law, told Radar that she knew about Jessica’s belief that her husband was cheating on her with the reporter, confirming that she has been aware “for a few weeks” about the “side chick” prior to the Twitter scandal.

Rutherford explained that she did not want to be involved in the “political situation,” but when asked if the Redskins pressured Jessica to release a statement that was not true, she told Radar, “Yes.”

I have to say that I am absolutely SHOCKED by this development. You mean the team wanted her to take the blame for this one rather than cover for her? No way! It was already bad enough having RG3 blame an intern for his social media gaffe. This time they needed someone to take the fall. It’s pretty clear that she really thinks her husband is cheating on her.
