Report: Jets may have to settle for fourth-round pick for Sheldon Richardson

Sheldon Richardson

The New York Jets are reportedly finding it tough to move defensive end Sheldon Richardson.

According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the feeling around the league is that the Jets would have to settle for a fourth-round draft pick in exchange for Richardson, a former Pro Bowler. He has been suspended twice in the last two seasons, faced off-field issues, and tallied just 1.5 sacks last season, which has significantly weakened his value.

We have heard little with regards to interest in Richardson thus far, with the fact that he is entering the last year of his deal not helping much. Richardson may seek a $100 million deal for his next contract, and potential trade partners will likely want to hammer out a contract extension with him before pulling the trigger on a deal.

Last season, the Jets were asking a much higher price when they tried to trade Richardson. They won’t come close to getting that now.
