Jets GM says team is focused on signing Ryan Fitzpatrick
Despite their problems in negotiations, the New York Jets are still focused on trying to get Ryan Fitzpatrick under contract.
Jets GM Mike Maccagnan spoke with reporters on Friday and provided some updates on their negotiations with last season’s starting quarterback. Maccagnan said it was the team’s goal to sign Fitzpatrick and that they are hopeful they will be able to find middle ground in the talks.
Maccagnan not surprised Fitz talks have lasted this long. Part of free agency. "At some pt in time, hopefully we can find a middle ground"

Maccagnan says the team does not have a deadline on signing Fitzpatrick.
The Jets also met with free agent Robert Griffin III, but Maccagnan did not seem to indicate that signing him was a very serious possibility at the moment.
Maccagnan won't reveal QB contingency plan. Says RG3 visit was "due diligence." Says "focus is to try to get something with Ryan." #nyj

Fitzpatrick threw for 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions last season for the Jets, who went 10-6 but did not receive a playoff berth. Despite Fitzpatrick enjoying his best season ever, the Jets are said to be seriously low-balling him in negotiations.
