Report: Jets offering Ryan Fitzpatrick $7 million, ‘frustrated’ with his demands

Ryan Fitzpatrick’s market is not developing as he would have hoped it would.

Brian Costello of the New York Post reported Sunday that the New York Jets’ offer to Fitzpatrick is around $7 million, while Fitzpatrick wants to be paid the starter’s rate of between $16-$18 million. Fitzpatrick’s problem is that nobody else is willing to pay him that – the Denver Broncos aren’t budging on that asking price, and there have been no indications that the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, or Los Angeles Rams have any interest.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports understands that New York is also unwilling to pay what Fitzpatrick is asking and are growing “frustrated” with his flirtations with other teams despite the market apparently not being there.

Fitzpatrick has every right to play the field, but it’s becoming readily apparent that the market isn’t there for whatever it is that he’s demanding. Of course, that doesn’t mean he should settle for whatever offers he gets, either. That said, it may be time for him to sit down with the Jets – who do genuinely want him back – and try to bridge that gap.
