Jimmy Garoppolo reportedly ‘making progress,’ could be ready Week 4

Jimmy Garoppolo injury

The New England Patriots are running out of options at quarterback with Tom Brady suspended and both Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett hurt. Fortunately, both of their backup quarterbacks have a chance to be healthy in time for next weekend’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that Garoppolo is “definitely making progress” with his shoulder injury and the Patriots hope he will be ready to start against Buffalo. Schefter also said Brissett’s thumb injury is not considered to be serious.

There was some hope that Garoppolo would be able to play last Thursday, but he ended up being inactive for New England’s blowout win over the Houston Texans. Brissett got the start and did enough to put the Patriots in a position to win.

If, for some reason, both Garoppolo and Brissett are unable to go, the Patriots will have to either sign a veteran free agent or take their chances using this star wide receiver as a quarterback. With the way things are going for Bill Belichick, it might not matter who is under center against Buffalo.
