Report: Jimmy Garoppolo may miss six weeks with shoulder injury
The Jimmy Garoppolo era in New England appears to be over as soon as it began.
According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Garoppolo’s shoulder injury is severe enough that he will definitely miss out on the Patriots’ upcoming Thursday night tilt against Houston. A source says that the quarterback could be out six weeks with the injury, which has yet to be identified.
Howe notes that Garoppolo’s right shoulder is still undergoing tests, so there is nothing definitive as of yet.
It was previously reported that Garoppolo’s X-rays came back negative. Perhaps that’s true, but something is clearly amiss in his shoulder if a six week recovery period is being mooted. If true, Tom Brady will be back under center by the time Garoppolo returns, and Jacoby Brissett will probably be the answer for the team’s next two contests.
