Former Broncos DB John Boyett punched cab driver, dropped John Elway’s name

John-Boyett-mug-shot

Former Denver Broncos safety John Boyett was arrested early Wednesday morning and released by the team the following day. Allow us to tell you a little bit about how Boyett went from Broncos practice squad player to former Broncos safety.

According to Jesse Paul of The Denver Post, police say Boyett head-butted and punched a cab driver while intoxicated. He then allegedly stole a shovel from a construction site and tried to hide from officers by covering himself in mulch.

When police were arresting Boyett, the 24-year-old reportedly told them to “contact his boss John Elway” and then proceeded to scream, spit and slam his head into a patrol car window.

Before all of this went down, Boyett was getting all liquored up at the Sports Book Bar & Grill where a bartender said he began causing a disturbance. The 24-year old allegedly tried to take food off another customer’s plate and then threatened to punch a bartender and refused to pay his tab when he was told to leave.

And if all that wasn’t enough for the Broncos to dump Boyett, he was also arrested last year while with the Indianapolis Colts for stiff-arming an officer and threatening to break his jaw. Boyett also tried to get out of trouble then by telling police he was an NFL player.

Don’t be surprised if the NFL player excuse is never available to Boyett again.
