John Fox in hospital after feeling light-headed – no heart attack

John FoxDenver Broncos head coach John Fox was taken to the hospital on Saturday after feeling light-headed on the golf course and is said to be “doing fine” despite the initial scare.

There were initial reports that Fox, who is in his third season coaching the Broncos, suffered a heart attack, but a team spokesman says that’s not the case.

Broncos executive director of media relations Patrick Smyth says he talked with Fox, whom he described as being in good spirits.

“I am doing fine. We are just running some tests and will know more in a few hours,” Fox said in a text message.

The 7-1 Broncos are on their bye week.

UPDATE: Fox will have heart surgery and miss 4-6 weeks.
