Johnny Manziel hospitalized over prescription meds reaction

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel was admitted to the hospital on Monday after he had what his public relations manager described as a reaction to a change in his prescription medication.

TMZ reports that Manziel was hospitalized on Monday night in Texas, where he had been playing in a golf tournament hosted by his good friend and former teammate Mike Evans. Manziel also attended the JMBLYA concert in Houston over the weekend. According to his rep, Denise Michaels, Manziel had a bad reaction to his prescription medication and did not spend very long at the hospital.

“It seems like he had a reaction to an adjustment in his prescription,” Michaels told TMZ. “He’s fine and headed home.”

Manziel opened up about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder earlier this year, though it’s unclear if the prescription medication he takes is related to that. He insists he has been clean and sober for quite some time now as he works toward trying to play in the NFL again.

With no NFL teams making contract offers to Manziel, we recently got an indication that another pro football team may be preparing to sign him.
