Johnny Manziel moves from downtown Cleveland to golf community

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel is taking a major step toward removing himself from the temptation of nightlife.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Manziel recently moved from his apartment in downtown Cleveland to a quiet golf course community in the suburbs. Manziel has reportedly used playing golf as a constructive way of spending his time since he was released from rehab last month.

Manziel’s old apartment building, the Metropolitan at The 9, was the site of an alleged fight last year where Manziel was accused of sucker-punching someone. One of the accuers later apologized and Manziel insisted he was aggressively accosted.

Last week, a Browns veteran said he has seen a huge difference in Manziel from before and after he went to rehab. Despite that, head coach Mike Pettine said Monday that he expects Josh McCown to be Cleveland’s starting quarterback.

Manziel seems to be taking all the right steps toward straightening out his act, but none of that will matter if he doesn’t stay on the right path and improve his performance on the field. He needs to show people that he won’t put himself in compromising positions like this anymore and is capable of transitioning to life as a professional.
