Johnny Manziel allegedly promised to buy new car after friend crashed rental
Johnny Manziel was a passenger in a hit-and-run last month that reportedly left a Mercedes totaled, and the owner of the rental car claims Manziel promised to reimburse him for the damage.
TMZ spoke with Wayne Schneider, owner of PCLA luxury vehicle rental company, and he says Manziel promised to buy him a new $90,000 car after the accident. Schneider claims he has been unable to contact Manziel or the driver of the vehicle, so he recently reached out to the NFL for help.
After contacting the NFL, Schneider was told by an investigator that the league is gathering more information on the crash as part of a “larger Manziel investigation which is ongoing.”
Both Manziel and the driver, his friend Ryan Silverstein, avoided charges. Typically insurance will cover the cost of damages for a rental car, so it’s unclear why Manziel promised to replace the car himself — especially if there was no wrongdoing.
As we previously shared with you, Manziel and Silverstein were picked up by one of Manziel’s troubled former teammates after the crash.
