Johnny Manziel informed he will start against Bengals
As expected, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly informed Johnny Manziel that he will be making his first career NFL start this weekend.
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Manziel has officially been told he will get the nod over Brian Hoyer against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Hoyer has been terrible in recent weeks. He has thrown zero touchdown passes and seven interceptions over Cleveland’s last three games. The Browns remain in the playoff hunt at 7-6, but they have been winning in spite of Hoyer.
Manziel was spotted on the sideline during Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts muttering about how he could have hit a wide-open Josh Gordon after Hoyer overthrew the Pro Bowl receiver. Then on Monday, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis called Manziel a “midget.” You can hear audio of Lewis’ comments here.
Manziel should have plenty of motivation heading into Sunday. If he can protect the ball, he already has a step up on Hoyer.
