Joique Bell scores touchdown on overturned call
Joique Bell scored on a 2-yard touchdown run for the Detroit Lions just before halftime on Sunday in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, but that was only after the initial call of a fumble was overturned.
Bell plunged into the end zone over the top of the pile, but he had the ball knocked loose at the goal line and the Vikings recovered the fumble. However, the referees reviewed the scoring play and determined that Bell broke the plane at the goal line before losing the ball, and they gave him the TD. Touchdown was the proper call.
Detroit got the score after capitalizing on an interception from quarterback Christian Ponder three plays after they got the ball from a Lions fumble.
