Jordy Nelson reportedly out for season with torn ACL

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson suffered an injury during his team’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, and the initial diagnosis is that he tore his ACL.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Packers are awaiting MRI results but fear the worst for Nelson.

Nelson went down early in the game without being touched by a defender. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, and you would not have thought he suffered a season-ending injury while watching him move around after the play. It looked more like he tweaked something.

The Packers are fortunate to have been able to keep Randall Cobb this offseason, and they will likely lean heavily on second-year wide receiver Davante Adams in Nelson’s absence.

If the report about Nelson is accurate, he would be the second star receiver to suffer a devastating non-contact injury this preseason.
